Prospective Families
Connecticut River Academy | Grades 6 -12
Choosing a magnet school may be exactly the right step for your child — and you. Connecticut River Academy (CTRA) is a NEASC accredited, award-winning magnet school recognized for its high-quality and innovative programming by Magnet Schools of America with the Merit-Award of Excellence in 2020. At CTRA, we work together to find ways of contributing to a just and sustainable world by striving to consistently live our core values of awareness, diversity, and action. These values are made explicit throughout our curriculum in the form of our magnet standards, which are the driving force behind all of our learning — both formal and informal.
We are fortunate to have a state-of-the-art facility and advanced technology, including collegiate level science labs and laptop computers for every scholar, that bring to life our early college and career pathway programs. Through our Early College model, scholars prepare for the rigors and challenges of college through college-level and Advanced Placement classes, with opportunity to earn over 30 tuition-free, transferable college credits, starting their freshman year.

“Our goal is to graduate scholars who will think critically and communicate clearly about scientific, technical, interpersonal, societal, and global issues from multiple disciplinary perspectives.”
JT Foster, Director of Connecticut river academy

Earn College Credit while in High School
At CTRA, your child can get a jump-start on a college career. In addition to a full range of high school and AP courses, scholars have the opportunity to take classes at Goodwin University and earn over 30 transferable college credits while still in high school — tuition free. Schoolars are prepared academically and socially for college — laying an important foundation for future success.

Join an Inclusive Community
Your child’s academic career is important, but so are their student experiences. We want your child to be excited to come to school every day. Scholars at CTRA are welcomed into an inclusive atmosphere the moment they walk through the doors. Fitting in won’t be a problem. Here, scholars start fresh, meet new people, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Learn and Grow Outside the Classroom
With after-school advanced enrichment programs, clubs, and intramural sports programs, your child will become a well-rounded individual, ready to hit the ground running after graduation. Plus, scholars in our Advanced Manufacturing program have the opportunity to intern while in high school in preparation for real world experiences.
