CTRA Dress Code

CT River Academy’s Dress Code is focused on preparing scholars for career and college. Acceptance of admission to CTRA implies agreement to abide by our school’s dress code. The dress code for CTRA requires scholars to wear school-approved shirts, pants, and shoes.

A school logo must be shown at all times at at the high school, therefore outerwear that covers the school logo cannot be worn throughout the school day. Currently, the middle level does not require a logo. As of November of this year (2026), a logo will be required for all CTRA scholars.

Shorts, pants, capris, & skirts

• Can be chino, dress, or cargo style
• Must be solid colored in black, blue, or khaki
• Clothing must be free from rips or holes
• Worn at the waist
• Shorts and skirts must fall within 6 inches of the scholar’s knee

Sweaters, sweatshirts, fleeces, & vests 

• School logo must be visible on the outer most layer
• Tops with school logo are in gray, navy, light blue, white, or black
• Shirts worn beneath uniform must be free from promotion of or reference to drugs, alcohol, tobacco and offensive signs, symbols, or words. Solid colors without print are encouraged

Footwear

All shoes must have soles. Slippers, rubber flip flops, slides, and slip ons are not allowed. While closed toed shoes are not a necessary part of the daily dress code, due to the nature of our academic programming scholars may be required to wear shoes that are closed toed and closed heel for some classes as determined by the teacher.

Outerwear

• Upon entering the classroom, jackets should be placed on the back of the chair the scholar is assigned

Not acceptable by dress code

• Tank tops, tube tops, and crop tops
• Clothing or jewelry with drugs, alcohol, tobacco and offensive signs, symbols, or words or of colors other than outlined above
• Jeans, biker shorts, workout/athletic wear
• Sleepwear, pajamas, durags, bonnets, hair scarfs, blankets
• Hats, hoods, or sunglasses within the building

Dress down days will be on special occasions. Scholars may wear jeans without rips or holes, hooded sweatshirts (hood not to be worn).

Dress code item donation

Scholars and their families are encouraged to donate clean, gently used dress code items that are no longer wanted to the school for use as needed. Such donations should be brought to the main office.
