Middle Level Program
Serving Scholars in Grades 6-8
The Connecticut River Academy (CTRA) Middle Level Program serves scholars in grades 6-8, bridging scholars' elementary school and high school experiences. The Middle Level Program is located on the Goodwin University campus in East Hartford, just down the road from CTRA high school.
At CTRA Middle Level, we work together to find ways of contributing to a just and sustainable world by striving to consistently live our core values of awareness, diversity, and action. These values are made explicit throughout the curriculum in the form of our magnet standards, which are the driving force behind all our learning—both formal and informal.
In addition to standard course work, scholars will have the opportunity to explore Goodwin University Magnet School System's 4 Pathways, including Business & Administration, Computer Science, Health Science & Nursing, and Manufacturing & Engineering.

A Bridge to Your Child's Best Self
The Middle Level Program (grades 6-8) bridges the academic and social-emotional success for scholars as they progress from elementary school to high school.

A Preparative Pathway that Respects Scholar "Voice and Choice"
In the Middle Level Program, we recognize that your child has their own opinions, personality, preferences, and voice— and we want that individualism heard by way of innovation. Through our technology and creative design themes, we celebrate your child’s unique way of looking at the world. In an age that gives rise to robotics and automation, advanced scholars of the Middle Level Program take technology classes every day of the school year. An education in expression, our innovative technology courses feature engaging topics ranging from computer science to 3-D printing (with access to Goodwin University’s state-of-the-art Manufacturing Annex), as well as digital art courses that are designed with your child’s imagination in mind.

Making Memories through Mentorship
To promote diversity, kindness, and collaboration, scholars of the Middle Level Program act as role models to the elementary scholars at Riverside Magnet School. Goodwin University Magnet School System high school scholars meanwhile serve as mentors to scholars at the Middle Level, creating countless cross-cultural and career-oriented connections.

Small Teacher-to-Student Ratios with Big Results
The Middle Level Program purposefully implements small class sizes with staff that builds trusting foundations to foster lifelong learning. Our instructors are dedicated to helping students recognize their potential, strive for success through opportunities and outcomes, and ultimately become their best selves. At the CTRA Middle Level Program, educators invest in your child’s passions and make it their mission to turn your child’s interests into productive plans that will guide their personal and professional purpose.
