Meet the Directors
CTRA Middle Level (Grades 6-8)

As a school community, we are committed to creating meaningful experiences that prepare our scholars not only for success in school, but also for the many opportunities that await them beyond the classroom.
At CTRA Middle Level, we place a special emphasis on exploration across our four pathways: health sciences, manufacturing, business, and computer sciences. These pathways provide scholars with opportunities to discover their interests, develop new skills, and begin making connections between what they learn in school and the world around them. Through hands on experiences, collaboration, problem solving and exposure to a variety of careers, scholars are encouraged to ask questions, take action, and envision possibilities for their future. In addition, having foundational skills in each of these areas assists in their decisions of which pathway they choose once they attend the high school.
At the heart of this work are three important words - action, diversity, and awareness. This is at the core of what we believe and are rooted in our core values. We want our scholars to be active participants in their learning; to explore, create, problem solve, and take ownership of their growth. We want all scholars to recognize and celebrate the diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, talents, and experiences that make our community stronger. Most importantly, we want scholars to develop an awareness of themselves, their strengths, their interests, and the many opportunities available to them.
At CTRA Middle Level, we are excited about learning, exploration, and opportunities. To our current families, thank you for partnering with us and encouraging your child to remain curious, embrace new experiences, and approach each opportunity with an open mind. Together, we can help our scholars become informed, confident, engaged young people who are ready to take action and shape their futures. If you are prospective family interested in learning more about our school, please reach out with any questions!
In Partnership,

Director of Connecticut River Academy Middle Level
CTRA High School (Grades 9-12)

Welcome to Connecticut River Academy at Goodwin University, an early college high school with a focus on advanced manufacturing and environmental science.
Awareness. Diversity. Action. Three words that form the foundation of our core values and beliefs, and shape how we realize our mission of breaking down racial, ethnic, economic, gender, and social and academic barriers.
We believe that when scholars demonstrate self and global awareness, a respect for the importance of diversity, and understand the impact of individual and social actions, they will contribute to a more just and sustainable world.
Our goal is to graduate scholars who will think critically and communicate clearly about scientific, technical, interpersonal, societal, and global issues from multiple disciplinary perspectives.
CTRA’s state-of-the-art facility is located at the Goodwin University campus on the banks of the Connecticut River. Our research vessel allows scholars to explore the river in late spring and early fall. And our trollies transport scholars across campus to classes in our advanced manufacturing annex, and to college courses at the University.
There is so much to explore at CTRA. If you would like to know more, or if you have a concern, please feel free to contact me or any of the CTRA educators.
Be Well,
JT Foster
Director of Connecticut River Academy High School
